Parallel Structure

Parallell Structure (using the sign "//")

In a list, items each must have the same structure. For example, in the following sentence, the list items are not parallel in structure because each item in the series must match the first item's structure ("noun + modifier"):

A few of the factors I've mentioned include: general knowledge within the field, where the jobs are found, and what are the benefits are within teaching.

Here is the same sentence with corrected structure for each item in the series ("noun + modifier") so that the items are parallel:

A few of these factors I've mentioned include: knowledge within the field, job location, and benefits in teaching.
