Quote/Quotation

Quote/Quotation

Remember that "quotation" is the verb and that "quote" is the noun. Thus, you can "quote a quotation," but you shouldn't use "quote" as the noun. Writing (or saying), "I read a quote the other day" is wrong, while "I read a quotation the other day" is right!
