Sigma Tau Delta
The International English Honor Society
This Honor Society is for Juniors and Seniors and Graduate Students.
Sigma Tau Delta at UNC, an award-winning Chapter, gathers every
two weeks and sponsors various activities. Students in the field of
English (both Liberal Arts and Education) enjoy SigTau very much. The
Society sponsors socials, discussion groups, and campus-wide programs
such as the very popular "A Little Night Music: Readings from the
World's Scariest Literature" (a Hallowe'en program). Also popular is
the marathon reading of Dickens' A
Christmas Carol held in late November. The members of Sigma tau
Delta are presented with an honor pin, an honor certificate, and the
Society's honor cords which are worn at graduation.

Delta is Trevor Meyer. The

Lambda Gamma
The English Honor Society for Freshmen and Sophomores.
A "companion society" of Sigma Tau Delta, Lambda Gamma honors those
Freshmen and Sophomores who have excelled in the field of English. The
Society meets simultaneously with Sigma Tau Delta and participates in
all its activities. Prof. Worley is Faculty Sponsor. Members receive an
honor pin and honor certificate.

it. S.A.M. is the Society of
American Magicians, and the local group is
called The Town/Gown Wizards. We are illusionists who do performance
magic with
coins, cards, and so forth. Membership is drawn from the local
community (the Town) and from
UNC (the Gown, referring to
the academic gown). If you are interested in magic, are a
magic hobbyist, or if you are a
performing magician, TGW invites you to attend the monthly meetings.
