The Knight's Chapel Altar is always the center of activity for Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. With the Altar is the Patent of Authority for the Order (left) and (right) the Warrant for Bailiwick #0 of Greeley, Colorado (the sponsoring Bailiwick).

The Seal of Silence Given at The Vigil Ceremony
Investiture as a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre always comes in two steps. The first step is The Vigil Ceremony which is given the day before the Investiture. At the Vigil, the Postulants are instructed in the duties of the Knight and in the traditional preparation for Knighthood. Then the Knights take a Vow of Silence and spend the remaining day and night in prayer and spiritual preparation. Only at the Investiture Ceremony is the Vow of Silence lifted.
As a religious Order of Chivalry, the Order of the Holy Sepulchre makes a Knight by the laying on of hands. The Blow with the Sword (the dubbing) doesn't make the Knight, but, rather, grants the Knight the right to bear spurs and weapons.
New Knights are (left to right) Chev. Lawrence Slight; Chev. James Drury; the Sovereign Grand Master; Dame Loretta Dowdy; Chev. Marcel Desroches; and Chev. Emeka Nwosu.
Here, Grand Chancellor The Rt. Ex. Chev. the Captain Sir Ndubuisi Nnaji presents a lecture on "the modern knight." The lecture was received with great appreciation by the assembled guests. To read the lecture, click HERE. Use your "Back" button to return to this page.
