Robert
F. Whelan is a licensed, experienced glider pilot and sailplane owner. He earned his
aerospace engineering degree from the University of Maryland. Whelan has been cloud
dancing since 1972, and he believes the sport of soaring is too wonderful to be kept a
secret. He has lived where the plains meet the mountains since 1976.
